How Can You Feed a Betta?

Like any other pet animal, bettas also demand attention because they can interact and have fun with their owner.t If you are busy in your routine life, feeding is the only way to spend quality time with your bettas.

Bettas' health and behavior highly depend on what they eat and how much they eat. As the betta fish are picky in their food, you should know what your pet's favorite thing is, and for that, you can try multiple foods like small live prey, larvae, and the most common pellets.

But the question is how to feed your betta. So, there are different ways to feed bettas, and you can choose the right option based on betta age and health.

How To Feed Betta?

By Hand –

Feeding your betta by hand is the most common method of feeding. It's a fantastic way to interact and play with the betta. However, make sure to clean your hands properly before start feeding the fish.

Feeding Wand –

This device resembles a plastic straw with five holes on each end (hence its name) that allows for easy access into small spaces like caves and tanks without having any problems with getting stuck inside them. It also comes with two different sizes of openings so that everyone gets what they need no matter how large the fish mouth happens to be.

Syringe –

This device works similarly to a feeding wand, but instead of plastic, it is made of glass or metal. They come in all shapes and sizes, ranging from the smallest ones, which can fit into even the tiniest cracks.

Syringes can be used for the sick or very young bettas who cannot eat on their own.

The easiest way to feed your betta is by using a feeding stick or pipette, which can be purchased at pet stores and online retailers or from where you buy betta fish. If you don't want to buy one of these items, you can use a spoon or tube to get food into their mouths.

However, when using any of these pieces of equipment, you should be extra careful not to harm the young as they are sensitive.

How Often Do Bettas Need to Eat?

Bettas can eat daily, but they don't need to be fed daily. If you provide your betta with enough food and water, they'll be fine without eating for several days. It's important to note that this doesn't mean your fish will starve or die if you go longer than a week without feeding them, they're not pests.

Bettas are often fed twice daily (once in the morning and once at night). However, some people have found that feeding their bettas only once daily works just as well for them; it depends on the individual fish and how much time it takes them to digest their food in between feedings (which varies from one person's experience to another).

Conclusion

Bettas are tiny and sensitive pets, so it's crucial to be careful about everything. Feeding bettas is not an issue if they are mature enough to have their food, but you can use all the above methods for very young or sick bettas.

When feeding the bettas in a sorority, ensure that every fish gets enough food and that one fish is overeating while the other is starving. Using a wand is also an excellent way to feed the group's weakest fish.
